It is necessary to work on the economic rapprochement of Montenegro and France, said Minister of Finance Aleksandar Damjanović and French Ambassador Christian Timonije, and they put the focus in cooperation on the area of customs and transport infrastructure.
In addition to Timonije, Damjanović also met with the head of the regional economic department for the Western Balkans, Pierre Granjuan, with whom he discussed the economic cooperation between the two countries and the possibilities of strengthening it.
Damjanović informed the interlocutors more closely about the financial situation in Montenegro, the proposed budget for the next year, which he said he expects to be adopted, as well as the mechanisms that the government has decided on in order to preserve financial stability.
In addition to the intention to continue to provide encouragement to the European path, the French side has shown an open willingness to provide the Ministry of Finance with technical assistance in areas where it is determined that the experience of this western country could be most useful.
“Within the analysis of existing economic cooperation, the focus is on the areas of customs, management of free customs zones, transport infrastructure, with the conclusion that it is necessary to work on the economic rapprochement of Montenegro and France”, the announcement states.
It was agreed that the possibilities for more intensive cooperation established so far will be discussed in detail and formalized during the upcoming official visit of Damjanović to France, local media reports.
