A section of the Tivat – Budva boulevard, from Tivat airport to the turnoff for Bigovo, will be asphalted before the start of the tourist season, announced the Ministry of Transport.
“Other works will be carried out in a way that does not disrupt the flow of the tourist season, and if that is not possible, they will be temporarily suspended,” said representatives of the Ministry during a special session of the Coordination Body for Monitoring Tourism Seasons.
It was also announced that the roadways Čevo–Cetinje and Nikšić–Kuside will be completed before the summer season begins.
Tourism Minister Simonida Kordić made an appeal during the session to all stakeholders involved in the tourism industry to contribute to addressing potential challenges, ensuring Montenegro is fully prepared for the expected increase in tourist arrivals and a successful season.
“It was agreed to continue intensive communication with the Ministry of Internal Affairs to discuss increasing the number of police officers during the season, the possibility of banning heavy-duty traffic during the summer months or limiting it to nighttime hours, and regulating pedestrian traffic across main roads,” said the Ministry of Tourism in a statement.
Montenegro Airports announced that they expect a significant rise in the number of passengers, especially at Tivat Airport, where a 25% increase is projected compared to last year.
Additionally, the Ministry of Interior noted a 13% increase in border crossings in March compared to the same period last year, further confirming positive trends ahead of the summer tourist season.
