The Port of Bar handled approximately 684,330 tonnes of cargo in the first six months of 2026, down 19% from the 849,140 tonnes recorded in the same period of 2025. The figures were reported in the port management’s latest business report, which also showed that throughput fell short of the company’s operational target for the first half of the year. The Port of Bar had planned to handle 1.01 million tonnes between January and June 2026. Actual cargo throughput reached 67.59% of the volume envisaged in its annual business plan.
Cargo volumes declined across all major categories compared with the corresponding period of 2025. Dry bulk remained the largest component of activity, accounting for approximately 540,000 tonnes during the six-month period. Liquid cargo amounted to 133,930 tonnes, while general cargo totalled only 10,420 tonnes.
The first-half results left Montenegro’s largest commercial port significantly below both its cargo throughput in the same period last year and the volume planned for the first six months of 2026.
