Montenegro recorded 206,990 tourist arrivals and 793,956 overnight stays in hotels and other collective accommodation establishments during June, reflecting strong activity at the beginning of the peak summer tourism season. Foreign visitors generated 720,870 overnight stays, accounting for 90.8% of the total, while domestic tourists recorded 73,086 overnight stays.
The statistics cover hotels, tourist resorts and other forms of collective accommodation but do not include individually rented apartments, rooms or houses. As a result, the figures do not represent the entire tourism market. Coastal municipalities generated 91.6% of all overnight stays recorded in collective accommodation facilities, highlighting the continued concentration of tourism activity along Montenegro’s coastline.
Budva remained the country’s leading tourism destination, registering 354,146 overnight stays, equal to 44.6% of the national total. The municipality recorded almost as many hotel and collective accommodation nights as the rest of Montenegro combined outside the country’s largest coastal resort.
Visitors from Serbia generated 153,632 overnight stays, representing more than one-fifth of all foreign overnight stays recorded in the monitored accommodation category. Serbia remained Montenegro’s largest regional tourism market, supported by geographic proximity, road connectivity, language familiarity and long-established travel patterns.
The private accommodation segment continues to play an important role in Montenegro’s tourism industry, although individually rented apartments, rooms and houses are not included in the official collective accommodation statistics. Consequently, the published figures capture only part of the country’s overall tourism activity. The distinction between collective and private accommodation remains significant for investors and operators. Hotel businesses carry substantial payroll, maintenance, financing and regulatory compliance costs, while privately rented apartments generally enter the market with lower operating expenses.
