The conversion of the former Hotel Budva into Crowne Plaza Budva has expanded the property’s access to international markets and strengthened its presence within Montenegro’s tourism sector. Operating under the Crowne Plaza brand provides the hotel with access to IHG’s global reservation and distribution network, revenue-management tools and a loyalty programme with more than 145 million members.
Hotel director Mića Ivanović said that many travellers place greater confidence in a recognised hotel brand, regardless of the destination or price. The property has subsequently attracted guests from markets that were previously less accessible, including the United Kingdom, Israel, Türkiye, the United States, India, Russia and neighbouring countries.
The hotel has also recorded an increasing proportion of business travellers, members of loyalty programmes and international visitors with higher spending levels. Occupancy levels were strong in July and August, while bookings for September were also developing positively. September reservations include individual stays, organised groups and events.
The hotel’s customer mix includes conference groups, sports teams, corporate events and independent travellers, providing demand outside the main summer period. Ivanović said the aim was not to replace the hotel’s established identity or traditional customer base, but to combine its existing reputation with the international reach and resources provided by a global hotel brand.
