Berane recorded more than 3,000 tourist arrivals and almost 6,000 overnight stays between January and July 2026, as tourism activity in the northern Montenegrin municipality continued to expand. The number of arrivals increased by approximately 1,000 compared with the same period of 2025, while overnight stays remained broadly stable, with a slight increase. Accommodation across the municipality reached full occupancy during the peak of the summer season.
Berane’s tourism offer is centred on the surrounding mountain areas, including Bjelasica, Jelovica, Cmiljevica and Mokra. Local tourism officials see these areas as having potential for recreation, active holidays and the further development of rural and mountain tourism.
Visitors from Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and North Macedonia continue to make up the largest share of arrivals. At the same time, Berane has recorded increased interest over the past two years from tourists from Germany, the Netherlands, Israel, Russia, Denmark and the United Kingdom. The municipality’s tourism offer also includes concerts, festivals, sporting events and cultural programmes. Additional tourist accommodation is being developed both within the urban area and in surrounding locations.
Local officials are seeking to increase the length of visitors’ stays by expanding the range of activities and services available in the municipality. Accommodation prices generally range from €30 to €50 per person per night, while some rural households offer lower rates.
