Radomir Vuksanović, Director of the Transport Administration, announced on TVCG’s “Good Morning Montenegro” that the Mojkovac – Đurđevića Tara road is expected to open to traffic by the end of the year. The road has been formally closed for over a decade, but after extensive negotiations with all stakeholders, construction works are now nearing completion.
Vuksanović emphasized that the summer construction season coincides with the tourist season, making traffic management challenging. To minimize disruption, the government has prohibited total road closures on main and regional roads until the end of August, with adjustments based on traffic data.
He also noted a significant increase in vehicle numbers in Montenegro—50% more registered vehicles in 2024 compared to 2019—and a 10% annual rise in traffic on main and regional roads, with 20% growth on highways. Weekend traffic jams are common, worsened by protests in various locations, including between Bar and Podgorica.
