Montenegro’s Minister of Transport, Maja Vukićević, participated in the ministerial meeting of the Transport Community held in Belgrade, where she presented key reforms and infrastructure activities in Montenegro’s transport sector.
During the meeting, Minister Vukićević spoke twice: once during the session on legislative alignment and again during the discussion on the implementation of priority TEN-T projects. She highlighted Montenegro’s significant progress in aligning its legislation with European regulations, noting that Montenegro ranks second in the region with 79% implementation of the Road Safety Action Plan.
She also emphasized progress in the railway sector, mentioning upcoming legislation on railway safety, interoperability, and a new Railway Act soon to be presented to Parliament.
Minister Vukićević noted ongoing efforts to align with European regulations regarding passenger rights and air traffic management. Montenegro has already ratified amendments to the Agreement on the Common European Aviation Area (ECAA).
She further addressed strategic infrastructure projects and Montenegro’s role in enhancing regional connectivity, stressing that the country’s commitment to European integration and regional connectivity is tangible through law adoption, capital investments, and institutional strengthening.
Participation in the meeting reaffirmed Montenegro’s active role in the Transport Community and its determination to contribute, through reforms and investments, to a modern, safe, and sustainable transport network in the Western Balkans.
