Montenegro is reinforcing its status as a key player in the premium nautical tourism sector, evidenced by the successful hosting of the Luštica Bay Sailing Cup 2026. This event attracted around 150 sailors from Montenegro and neighboring countries to Trašte Bay near Tivat, showcasing the expanding sailing community and the significance of maritime sports in boosting tourism.
Taking place on 30–31 May 2026, the regatta was a collaborative effort between JK Krtoli and Luštica Development. It featured competitive sailing across various categories, including youth, Olympic-pathway, and cruiser yachts. Participants competed in classes such as Optimist, ILCA 4, ILCA 6, and cruiser yachts, with offshore competitors navigating a race linking Luštica Bay to the historic Mamula island fortress.
The event highlighted the prowess of local sailing clubs. In the ILCA 6 category, Nikola Golubović from JK Krtoli claimed first place, while Andrei Ashin from JK Delfin topped the ILCA 4 standings. Notably, Valentina Đorđević from JK Jugole Grakalić emerged victorious in the Optimist fleet, leading both the overall and girls’ classifications.
The cruiser segment introduced an international aspect to the competition. The yacht Regina, helmed by Nikola Zečević from Cavtat, Croatia, achieved the fastest real-time performance among cruisers, reflecting the regional nature of Adriatic sailing events.
