French investors are interested in promoting innovation and supporting entrepreneurship development through guarantee systems, as well as connecting with the French economic ecosystem, according to a statement from the Chamber of Commerce (PKCG).
A delegation of French businessmen, led by the Executive Director of MEDEF International, Philippe Gotier, visited PKCG today to discuss opportunities for developing economic relations.
“We are very focused on efficiency and trust, which we consider key to successful cooperation. We are pleased that the foundations for stable business collaboration already exist in your country, and we are happy to support your companies in further developing and financing innovative projects,” they stated.
Dušan Radonjić, Director of the International Cooperation Sector at PKCG, emphasized the value of discussing the economy with a world leader like France and expressed gratitude for France’s support of Montenegro’s European integration path.
According to the PKCG statement, Radonjić highlighted the excellent cooperation between PKCG and the French Embassy, which has resulted in numerous business forums and delegations’ visits. He presented Montenegro’s economy, which relies heavily on services, primarily tourism, but with ambitions to diversify and focus on strengthening manufacturing activities, particularly in sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, ICT, and other sectors that offer good opportunities for investment and collaboration with French businesses.
“We must work together to attract more French tourists to Montenegro and investors from your country, as we have much to offer. Montenegro is a very attractive investment destination, not only because of its geographical location, NATO membership, and future in the EU, but also due to the favorable legislation for investors,” Radonjić said.
Philippe Gotier, Director of MEDEF International, explained that this was their first business mission to Montenegro, which gathered a diverse range of industry representatives. “We are interested in all the opportunities you offer for investment. Present here are representatives from our construction companies, waste management, water, finance sectors, and others who want to better understand your investment environment. We can assist in securing finance for Montenegrin-French projects, especially in agriculture. We also want to have a stronger presence in Montenegrin tourism and other sectors,” Gotier stated.
Slavica Pavlović, Director of the Association Sector at the Chamber of Commerce, emphasized the readiness of Montenegrin agriculture for cooperation, with great potential for investment and capacity building. “We believe that, through joint efforts, we can improve this sector and create new development opportunities,” Pavlović said.
Igor Banović, President of the Transport Association Committee at the Chamber of Commerce, noted that there is a wide range of opportunities for investors in this field. “The transport sector offers numerous potential improvements in infrastructure and connectivity, which can significantly contribute to economic development,” Banović stated.
He also informed the French delegation about planned infrastructure projects, such as the reconstruction of the railway and construction of highways. He assessed that the Port of Bar could soon become very attractive for investments that would contribute to the full utilization of its capacities.
