The company Monteput has allocated €1.62 million for the investment maintenance of the Sozina and Raš tunnels, along with the access roads.
“Currently, work is being carried out on additional slope reinforcement along the section of the road between the Raš tunnel and the Sozina Command Center, the repair of cracks in the secondary lining in the Sozina tunnel (phase one), and the installation of steel protective barriers at additional locations, along with partial replacement of the existing barriers,” Monteput stated.
The company also reminded that, in addition to the regular maintenance costs, €1.79 million has been invested in the previous period for the investment maintenance of the Sozina and Raš tunnels, as well as the access roads.
The largest portion of these works includes the repair of the road surface on the southern access road to the Sozina tunnel, which involves replacing the worn-out asphalt layer and installing new horizontal road markings, valued at €355,000, as well as the replacement of adaptive lighting in the Sozina and Raš tunnels, valued at €367,000.
“Over the past two years, Monteput has invested significant funds for the maintenance of the Sozina tunnel, including the purchase of a new fire truck and a self-propelled crane, totaling €520,000,” the statement added.
In the upcoming period, Monteput plans to carry out additional works as part of the investment maintenance of the Sozina and Raš tunnels and their access roads. These works will include the repair of the road surface on the northern access road, the replacement of the existing road construction in the Sozina tunnel, the repair of remaining cracks in the secondary lining in the Sozina tunnel, the installation of shock absorbers at tunnel extensions, and the procurement and installation of new variable traffic signs and electric chargers, along with works on related infrastructure at the maintenance base.
“Monteput remains dedicated to improving the infrastructure, which will contribute to greater road safety in Montenegro,” the statement concluded.
