During her official visit to London, Montenegro’s Minister of Tourism, Simonida Kordić, met with representatives of the British Chamber of Commerce, an organization primarily focused on fostering investments and international cooperation.
At the meeting, Kordić emphasized the importance of tourism to Montenegro’s economy, noting that the sector accounts for over 30% of the country’s gross domestic product (GDP), making a significant contribution to national economic growth and overall stability.
She also highlighted the Ministry’s ongoing efforts in strategic planning, aiming to ensure the sustainable and stable growth of the tourism sector.
“Seasonality and the concentration of tourism in the coastal region remain major challenges for us. Our goal is to extend the tourist season and attract visitors to all parts of Montenegro. The pandemic has shown a growing interest in active tourism and authentic experiences, such as enjoying pristine nature or staying on agricultural farms with a focus on tasting homemade, organic food,” said Kordić.
The discussion also included opportunities to increase the number of flights between Montenegro and the United Kingdom, particularly during the off-season, which would further boost tourism flows.
The representatives of the British Chamber of Commerce announced that the first international conference post-COVID would take place on March 20th next year, where Montenegro could play a significant role.
It was agreed that concrete steps to enhance cooperation would be considered ahead of the event. The communication between the two countries’ chambers of commerce will continue, with the aim of strengthening bilateral relations and fostering further investment.
