GoDaddy.com’s Vice President of Government and Industry Affairs, James Bladel, and Identity Digital’s General Counsel and Secretary, Alvaro Alvarez, said that after exhausting all contractual remedies to pre-empt the dispute and resolve it peacefully , due to the lack of response and dialogue with the Government, the doMEn company initiated a procedure to determine a temporary measure prohibiting the implementation of the election of a new agent.
Bladel and Alvarez, on behalf of the founders of the American companies Identity Digital and GoDaddy.com, announced that the earlier invitation to continue dialogue and discussions with the Government with full respect for contractual relations and the rule of law remains.

The doMEn company was chosen on the basis of a public call for the selection of a domain registration agent under the national Internet domain of Montenegro, which was announced by the government in November 2007.
.me Domain Registration Agent Agreement, it was concluded with the Government in February 2008, along with the associated annexes from 2009, 2012 and 2019, which together form one legal document, which was extended until March 31th, 2033.
The doMEn company reminded that the contract was automatically extended in accordance with Article 8.1 of the contract, which stipulates that if the registration agent intends to request an extension of the contract, he is obliged to notify the Government of this intention no earlier than 12 months and no later than six months before the expiration date. contract validity period.
“Since the expiration date of the contract was March 31th, we expressed our intention to the Prime Minister in May of last year. We did not receive an answer to that request,” the announcement states.
The contract stipulates that the contract shall be extended under the same conditions if the Government does not provide the agent with a statement on the possibility and conditions of contract extension within three months of the notification of the intention to extend the contract.
