The Administration for Capital Projects has launched a tender for the construction of facilities and parking at the Žarski Ski Center in Mojkovac. The allocated budget for this project is €3.24 million, excluding VAT, which totals nearly €4 million when VAT is included.
Bids must be submitted by November 11 at 10 AM, and the technical completion deadline for the work is set at 365 working days from the contractor’s engagement.
This tender was previously announced late last year, with a lower budget of €2.42 million including VAT. The technical documentation from that time specified that the project involved a temporary hospitality facility for renting sports equipment and a temporary parking area to support the development of the Žarski Ski Center.
As stated on the Ski Resorts of Montenegro website, the Žarski Ski Center is the second of several planned ski centers being developed according to the Spatial Plan for the Special Purpose of Bjelasica and Komovi. The northwestern region of Bjelasica is seen as having the highest potential for ski tourism development. The major advantage of this initiative is its focus on environmentally sustainable solutions, with terrain that is ideal for ski slope construction.
Future slopes will feature grass that allows for skiing with just 15 cm of snow. Their positioning, exposure, and snow cover duration fully comply with essential tourism standards. The complex will include a Z-4 lift from the Italian manufacturer Leitner, along with ski slopes and various base station facilities, including a restaurant, café-bar, ski rental, medical services, utility rooms, and public restrooms.
Furthermore, plans include the construction of 14 hotels and 11 apartment-style guesthouses at the base area of the Žarski Ski Center. This ski center will be linked to the Cmiljača ski center, providing access to a total of 14 lifts and ski lifts, alongside 60 km of ski slopes.
