From early May to July 13, the Tax Inspection conducted 1,445 checks focusing on fiscal compliance and combating the shadow economy, according to the Customs Administration. They identified 215 violations and issued 304 fines totaling €1,003,500.
Due to increased economic activity during the summer tourist season, especially in coastal municipalities and tourist centers, the Tax Administration intensified inspections.
Fines amounting to €582,560 were imposed, with €344,675 (59%) already collected. The collected fines mostly come from taxpayers who accepted responsibility and paid within eight days, benefiting from a one-third reduction under the Law on Misdemeanors.
Nine taxpayers received bans on their business activities.
The Tax Administration appealed to taxpayers to comply with tax laws by properly reporting income and issuing fiscal receipts. Citizens are also encouraged to report any irregularities via the call center at 19707 or through the “Be Responsible” platform.
