Montenegro’s Prime Minister Milojko Spajić announced that living standards in the country have never been better, highlighting continuous growth in citizens’ quality of life.
He emphasized that despite some mixed opinions, Montenegrins are increasingly traveling across Europe and the world, and that the upward trend in living standards will continue. Spajić pointed out that the 44th Government’s policy focuses on social equality and improving job opportunities, salaries, and pensions.
Currently, average salaries exceed 1,000 EUR, minimum wages range between 600 and 800 EUR, and minimum pensions have been raised to 450 EUR following recent adjustments.
Addressing concerns about roadworks, blocked routes, and unprepared beaches ahead of the tourist season, Spajić acknowledged criticisms towards contractors for concentrating work in July and August instead of spreading it throughout the year. He urged citizens to be sensitive to tourism’s importance, warning that disruptions could harm the sector’s future.
Regarding expected investments from the United Arab Emirates, Spajić noted delays caused by efforts to obstruct initiatives in Montenegro, expressing dissatisfaction with the slow progress but promising improvements in procedures and processes.
On the ongoing concession tender for Podgorica and Tivat airports, Spajić stressed his request for transparency and competence in the process, following recommendations from the World Bank and the International Finance Corporation (IFC). He expressed optimism about continued cooperation with these institutions and awaited reports from the Tender Commission along with IFC’s opinions.
