A new underground parking garage with three levels is planned on the existing surface parking lot in front of the BIG Fashion and City Mall shopping centers, as outlined in the revised urban plan “Marko Radević.”
The planning document, covering an area of 5.85 hectares in the City Quarter of Podgorica, has received positive feedback from the Planning Document Review Council, with suggestions to improve traffic circulation and parking access to meet user needs and ensure smooth traffic flow. It also recommends increasing greenery on rooftop terraces and along building facades to compensate for the limited green space due to the high density of the development.
However, a negative opinion was issued by Ranko Radulović, council member responsible for electrical infrastructure, because the electricity provider CEDIS did not submit an official review. The planned expansion includes adding two new 10/0.4 kV transformer stations with a total capacity of 2×100 kVA connected to an already heavily loaded 10 kV feeder from the Podgorica 4 substation. This would fully occupy the feeder’s capacity and limit backup power options.
To ensure reliable electricity supply and safety for the high number of expected visitors, Radulović recommends installing a new 10 kV cable between the Podgorica 4 substation and the Delta City transformer station as an adequate backup power solution.
