Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine on February 24, 2022, a total of 293,414 people from Ukraine have entered Montenegro, while 292,500 have left, according to the Ministry of Interior (MUP).
The Ministry reported that from January 6 this year until today, 1,031 people from Ukraine entered Montenegro, while 940 left during the same period.
During this time, 27 individuals from Ukraine applied for temporary protection.
“Since the implementation of the Decision on Temporary Protection on March 14, 2022, until today, a total of 13,034 applications for temporary protection have been submitted (7,941 by women and 5,093 by men), of which 12,302 applications have been approved,” the statement said.
It was also noted that the number of applications for the extension of temporary protection during this period was 10,932, with 6,786 submitted by women and 4,146 by men.
“In 2023, there were 4,305 applications for the extension of temporary protection, of which 4,299 were approved. Last year, 6,587 applications were submitted for an extension of temporary protection, of which 6,166 were approved, and the processing of the remaining applications is ongoing,” the MUP added.
The Ministry emphasized that it is taking necessary actions within its authority and that all aspects of migration management are under control.
