According to data from the Central Bank of Montenegro (CBCG), a total of 21,160 companies and entrepreneurs had frozen bank accounts at the end of October, marking a 0.11% increase compared to the end of September.
The total amount of outstanding debt that led to these account blockages reached €1.56 billion, which is 1.31% higher than in September.
More than 19,910 companies and entrepreneurs have had their accounts blocked for over one year, with their combined frozen debt amounting to €1.52 billion.
The CBCG stated that the debt concentration is relatively high. The ten largest debtors — representing only 0.05% of all recorded entities — account for 36% of the total blocked amount. Their combined frozen debt totals €560.15 million.
Furthermore, 54.77% of the total blocked amount, or €852.29 million, is linked to the 50 largest debtors, who make up 0.24% of all registered entities.
There were 1,250 debtors whose accounts had been continuously blocked for up to one year, with a total debt of €36.88 million, representing 2.37% of the aggregate blocked amount.
More than 19,910 companies and entrepreneurs have remained in blocked status for over 12 months, with a total frozen debt of €1.52 billion.
