The Bar-based company Nature Technology plans to build and open a water bottling plant in Danilovgrad. The investment, valued at over 2 million euros, will be located at the Komunica water source. The new factory is expected to employ 25 workers and begin operations in 2027.
According to the 2025 Water Concession Plan, Montenegro currently has seven bottling plants, but existing production capacities are underutilized. Despite the significant potential of karst water sources, only a limited number meet the requirements for commercial bottling.
Nature Technology’s project at Komunica involves bottling water in various sizes, including PVC bottles ranging from 0.5 to 5 liters and glass bottles from 0.25 to 1 liter. A second phase will introduce carbonated water and juice production.
The demand for bottled water is expected to grow both domestically and internationally due to increasing water pollution worldwide and the expansion of tourism in Montenegro.
The investment is considered economically justified and important for local employment, as it will create 25 new jobs and stimulate economic activity in the region. Additionally, it is expected to help reduce Montenegro’s trade deficit by lowering bottled water imports and generating budget revenue from concession fees and taxes.
The company seeks a 30-year concession for water use at the Komunica source with a volume of 1 liter per second. Funding interest from international partners, particularly from the UAE, exists, contingent on concession approval by Montenegrin authorities.
The factory’s operation is planned to start in 2027 with a total investment exceeding 2 million euros.
