Montenegro has the potential to develop active, health, rural and religious tourism, according to the Minister of Tourism, Simonida Kordić.
During a meeting in Rome with the Vice President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM), Giulia Centevero, Kordić emphasized that the ministry’s goal is to overcome seasonality and expand the tourism offering to 365 days a year.
“The meeting highlighted that Montenegro already has a certain level of tourism traffic from Italy. However, improving air connectivity is crucial for increasing the number of tourists and strengthening economic cooperation,” the Ministry of Tourism stated.
Centevero pointed out that Montenegro, as a safe country, can be attractive to investors and digital nomads.
She expressed PAM’s willingness to support Montenegro’s tourism initiatives through programs such as empowering women and youth in the sector.
Additionally, she suggested participation in the Economic Forum, which gathers investors, financial institutions, and banks, providing an excellent opportunity for Montenegro to present its potential.
Kordić also mentioned that Montenegro is expected to join the European Union between 2028 and 2030, and efforts are being made to strengthen cooperation in this regard.
Earlier, Kordić met with PAM’s Secretary General, Sergio Piacere, in Podgorica, where she emphasized Montenegro’s strong interest in collaborating with Mediterranean countries and stressed the importance of strengthening regional relations in tourism.
