Retail trade turnover in Montenegro increased by 6.9% in current prices and 4.8% in constant prices in the first quarter compared to the same period last year, according to Monstat data.
However, compared to the last quarter of the previous year, retail turnover decreased by 17.1% in current prices and 18.5% in constant prices.
Breakdown by sectors:
- Retail turnover of motor fuels rose 8.6% year-on-year but fell 11.2% compared to the previous quarter.
- Food retail turnover increased 4.9% year-on-year but declined 16.5% compared to the last quarter of 2024.
- Retail sales of pharmaceuticals and cosmetics grew 7.7% year-on-year but dropped 5.6% from the previous quarter.
- Retail turnover of other non-food products was up 9.2% year-on-year but decreased 21.8% quarter-on-quarter.
Overall, retail trade showed year-on-year growth in the first quarter but declined compared to the previous quarter across most categories.
