In the initial quarter of this year, employees in municipalities such as Tivat, Zeta, Pljevlja, Podgorica, Cetinje and Kotor outpaced the national wage average, as per Monstat’s findings.
Across municipalities, Tivat led with the highest average wage at €968, followed by Zeta at €888, Pljevlja at €856, Podgorica at €852, Cetinje at €845, with Kotor at €831 and Žabljak at €805.
Nationwide, the average salary stood at €822 for the same period.
Financial sector employees received the highest average wages, totaling €1,295, trailed by the energy supply sector at €1,192 during the first quarter.
Conversely, the administrative and support services sector had the lowest average wage at €657, followed by manufacturing at €664, and trade at €698.
In Montenegro, the trade sector employs nearly 49,000 individuals, while agriculture employs around 2,300 workers.
Overall, Montenegro had 248,882 employed individuals, reflecting an increase of 16,430 from the previous year. Unemployment decreased to 37,768 by March’s end, compared to 44,425 the previous year. New job seekers numbered around 16,550, with 14,892 individuals lacking qualifications.
