In Montenegro, a total of 392,910 dwellings have been recorded, covering a combined area of 28.61 million square meters, according to data from the national population census.
The Statistical Office of Montenegro (Monstat) reported that out of this number, 285,730 units are designated for permanent residence, with a total area of 21.92 million square meters. Additionally, 16,720 dwellings are used exclusively for business purposes, occupying 732,940 square meters.
There are also 89,080 dwellings intended for seasonal use, covering 5.86 million square meters, while 1,370 dwellings lack data regarding their usage, accounting for 95,400 square meters.
“Out of the total number of dwellings for permanent residence, 214,530 are inhabited, covering 17 million square meters, while 71,200 are temporarily uninhabited or abandoned, with a total area of 4.92 million square meters,” the statement said.
The average size of inhabited dwellings in Montenegro is 79.3 square meters. The average living space per person is 27.5 square meters, and the average number of people living in inhabited dwellings is 2.9.
The population, household, and housing census was conducted from December 3 to 30, 2023, in accordance with the Methodology for the Preparation, Organization, and Implementation of the Census.
