The National Parks of Montenegro (NPCG) achieved remarkable results from January 1 to June 1 of this year, according to Damjan Ćulafić, Minister of Ecology, Sustainable Development, and Development of the North.
Revenues increased by nearly 40 percent compared to the same period last year, while the number of visitors rose by 41 percent. This growth reflects the increasing recognition and attractiveness of Montenegro’s national parks.
In the first six months of this year, NPCG generated 891.16 thousand euros in revenue, compared to 641.33 thousand euros during the same period in the previous year.
Ćulafić emphasized that these results are not accidental but the outcome of serious and determined reforms. These changes, particularly in staffing policies and organizational structure, have created a system that operates in a stable, transparent, and efficient manner. This system has been key to achieving such progress.
He also highlighted that national parks are among Montenegro’s most valuable assets—not only for preserving natural heritage and biodiversity but also as a foundation for sustainable tourism development.
The parks play a vital role in supporting local communities, the economy, education, and in promoting Montenegro as an ecological state. The current figures demonstrate how much both citizens and international visitors appreciate the beauty, authenticity, and well-preserved nature of Montenegro’s protected areas.
