Montenegro’s total foreign trade turnover in the past year, according to preliminary data from the Statistical Office of Montenegro (Monstat), amounted to 4.68 billion EUR, which is an increase of 4.4% compared to 2023. Monstat reported that exports were valued at 615 million EUR, marking a decrease of 8.8% compared to the previous period. Imports totaled 4.07 billion EUR, rising by 6.8%.
“The coverage of imports by exports stood at 15.1%, which is lower than in 2023, when it was 17.7%,” the statement added.
In terms of export structure, the largest share was held by mineral fuels and lubricants, amounting to 154.4 million EUR, of which 114.7 million EUR came from electricity and the rest from other goods.
The import structure was dominated by machinery and transport equipment, amounting to 990.5 million EUR, with road vehicles accounting for 382 million EUR, and the remainder being other items.
Montenegro’s largest export partners were Serbia with 184.5 million EUR, Bosnia and Herzegovina with 45.2 million EUR, and Switzerland with 37.2 million EUR.
The largest import partners were Serbia with 699.2 million EUR, China with 480.7 million EUR, and Germany with 413.2 million EUR.
