Montenegro’s total foreign trade in goods for the first five months reached 1.9 billion euros, marking a 4.1% increase compared to the same period last year, according to preliminary data from Monstat. Exports totaled 237.1 million euros, which is 5.8% lower than last year, while imports rose by 5.7% to 1.67 billion euros.
The import coverage by exports stood at 14.2%, down from 15.9% in the previous year.
In export structure, mineral fuels and lubricants were the largest category, valued at 71.6 million euros, including 61.2 million euros from electric energy. On the import side, machinery and transport equipment dominated with 428.2 million euros, including road vehicles worth 178.4 million euros.
Montenegro’s main export partners were Serbia (61.3 million euros), Switzerland (25.6 million euros), and Bosnia and Herzegovina (22.8 million euros). The top import partners were Serbia (280.9 million euros), China (212.1 million euros), and Germany (171.9 million euros).
The largest trade volumes occurred with countries part of the Central European Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA) and the European Union (EU).
