The Agricultural Cluster of Montenegro has called on the Government and Ministry of Finance to attend a meeting to discuss urgent issues affecting the survival of agriculture. Boško Miličić, the Cluster’s president, warned that without a concrete response, they will take radical action.
Miličić demanded that the Government prioritize agriculture, the Ministry of Agriculture create a clear development strategy, and the Ministry of Finance allocate 5% of the budget to agriculture. He stated that if their concerns continue to be ignored, farmers will protest with tractors.
He emphasized that agriculture is essential for Montenegro’s food security, rural survival, and economic stability. Without domestic food production, the country risks instability and dependence on imports.
Montenegro’s current Agribudget is only 1.65% of the national budget, with just 0.8% going directly to farmers. Miličić argued this is insufficient and called for immediate action to secure fair funding, fair prices, and fair policies for the agricultural sector.
