Tourism Minister Simonida Kordić and National Tourism Organization (NTO) Director Ana Tripković Marković visited Podgorica Airport as part of the “Connect with Montenegro” campaign, aimed at welcoming tourists with useful information and symbolic gifts upon arrival. The campaign is organized by NTO in cooperation with telecom company One and covers both Montenegrin airports and major border crossings.
Due to last year’s success, the campaign has been extended to two months this year, with over 100,000 gifts being distributed to visitors. It is supported by Montenegro Airports, the Ministry of Interior’s Border Police, and sponsors Aqua Bianca and Montenegro Chips.
Kordić noted that both airports are operating at full capacity, with a six percent increase in aircraft traffic and a seven percent rise in passenger numbers in the first half of the year compared to 2023. She emphasized that airport development is vital for tourism.
Tripković Marković highlighted that Montenegro currently hosts about 115,000 tourists, primarily from the region and Western Europe, with a growing number from distant markets. She stressed the importance of making a strong first impression.
Branko Mitrović, CEO of One, added that tourists appreciate the immediate access to SIM cards and internet upon arrival, making them feel welcomed and secure. He said gestures like warm greetings, information, and small gifts create a memorable experience that encourages visitors to return.
Tourists from Paris, London, and Colombia praised the warm welcome, calling it thoughtful and unique, with several expressing excitement to explore Montenegro’s natural attractions.
