Preliminary data from the Agricultural Census confirms the vast potential of the country for producing healthy and high-quality food, according to the Naprijed Movement.
“Montenegro is distinguished by exceptional geographical and climatic conditions that allow for the production of a wide range of agricultural products – from fruits and vegetables in the fertile plains of the Zeta and Bjelopavlić valleys, to livestock farming in the hilly and mountainous areas, and viticulture that thrives under the Mediterranean sun,” the statement reads.
Preliminary results from last year’s Agricultural Census show that Montenegro has 26,710 agricultural households that together cultivate 248,230 hectares of agricultural land.
“In a time when we are witnessing increasing reliance on imports, it is necessary to return to domestic production and rely on our own resources. It is time to support local producers and choose healthy food from our villages and farms. By purchasing domestic products, we not only strengthen the economy, but also preserve our identity, tradition, and health,” said representatives of the Naprijed Movement.
Montenegro, it is added, has all the conditions to become a leader in organic and sustainable food production.
“Modern technologies, education, and support for young farmers can create a self-sustaining system that will meet domestic needs and enable the export of high-quality products,” the statement concludes.
The Naprijed Movement has called on all citizens to turn to domestic products, support local farmers, and recognize agriculture as a strategic sector for the development of the country.
“Only through collective effort can we ensure a safer future, economic progress, and a healthier life for all of us,” the statement concludes.
