Members of the Socialist People’s Party, Slađana Kaluđerović and Bogdan Božović, proudly announced that the Draft Law on the Labor Fund, which they jointly proposed, was unanimously adopted by the Parliament of Montenegro.
The law holds the state responsible and guarantees justice for workers whose pension and disability insurance contributions remained unpaid due to the closure or insolvency of their former employers. Through the Labor Fund, the state will pay contributions only for the missing part of the work experience needed for employees to qualify for a pension.
This measure is not a gift but a restoration of what belongs to workers—their dignity and security in old age. Workers who invested decades of effort into the country will no longer be left vulnerable to systemic injustice and neglect by former management. The state commits to actively protecting citizens’ rights.
The law sends a clear message that no worker will be forgotten; those who have built the country deserve to receive their pensions without obstacles beyond their control.
Božović emphasized that correcting this injustice reflects the sacred social contract, affirming that pensions are not just individual rights but a social responsibility. The state will not allow workers to age in poverty due to circumstances caused by their companies’ failures.
Gratitude was expressed to the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare, Labor Fund, Central Bank, and Tax Administration for their professional cooperation in developing the law.
This legislation embodies social solidarity and maturity, aiming to assist those most in need without creating budgetary burdens or opportunities for abuse. It restores hope and security to many families in Montenegro.
