The Montenegrin Congress Bureau, part of the National Tourism Organization (NTO), is once again presenting Montenegro’s destination offer at the IMEX 2025 fair in Frankfurt, strengthening the country’s position in business tourism. Montenegro aims to position itself as an attractive and rich destination for various business events such as conferences, congresses, meetings and incentive trips.
During the three-day event, representatives of the Montenegrin Congress Bureau held numerous meetings with event organizers from Europe, North America, Asia, and other regions, including countries like the UK, France, Germany, Canada, the USA, India, China, Brazil, and the UAE.
According to Aleksandra Maksimović, director of the Congress Bureau, the country is strategically developing business tourism by focusing on authenticity and personalized experiences, which are increasingly valued by modern business travelers. The active participation at the fair allows Montenegro to showcase its professional services, inspiring nature, and strong local identity.
The interest from international organizers confirms Montenegro’s growing presence on the global business tourism map. Over the past year, 48 members of the bureau were certified, including travel agencies, hotels with conference capacities, event venues, local tourism organizations, and a congress center meeting high international standards.
Montenegro supports the development of MICE tourism through grant programs aimed at improving conference capacities, organizing international events, and promotional activities. Business tourism is important for extending the tourist season and generating higher revenue, as business travelers tend to spend more than average tourists and travel outside the main season.
According to the latest World Travel & Tourism Council report, tourist spending on business travel in Montenegro is expected to grow by 3.8% between 2024 and 2034.
Montenegro attracted notable attention at the Frankfurt fair. Richard Savage from the UK’s Specialised Travel agency emphasized the growing British interest in Montenegro and the need to explore beyond coastal areas. Joao Paulo Teco from Brazil highlighted Montenegro’s natural beauty, culture, history, and attractions, noting strong potential interest from Brazilian tourists.
Edil Omeragić from Montenegro Concierge DMC stressed the importance of participating in the IMEX fair for establishing new business contacts and promoting Montenegro as an authentic and attractive MICE destination.
The IMEX Frankfurt fair, held for the 23rd time, gathers over 4,000 event organizers and more than 3,000 exhibitors worldwide to foster cooperation and enhance business event experiences.
