Vice President of the Parliament, Mirsad Nurković, presented the current investment climate in Montenegro during his visit to Turkey, emphasizing the stable political relations between the two countries as a foundation for deeper economic cooperation.
Nurković is on an official visit to Turkey, where he is participating in the Eurasian Economic Forum, which gathers political and business leaders from Europe and Asia.
He first visited the Turkey Bosnia Sandžak Association, which brings together the largest number of emigrants from Montenegro, as well as from neighboring countries.
“The meeting was mutually satisfying, reaffirming the strong connection between the emigrants and their homeland,” said the statement from the Vice President’s office.
The Association, a crucial stop for all Montenegrin state delegations, highlights the dedication to the homeland and the willingness to offer help when needed.
The role of emigrants in preserving identity and their readiness to stand by their people, regardless of the distance, was particularly emphasized.
A significant part of the visit was a meeting with the President of the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce, Şekib Avdagić.
The Istanbul Chamber of Commerce, the second-largest in the world, represents a robust business network with over 820,000 members, 40,000 foreign firms, and 300,000 private entrepreneurs.
Avdagić expressed readiness to organize a business forum in Turkey, host a delegation from Montenegro, and establish cooperation with the Montenegrin Chamber of Commerce and the Union of Employers.
It was agreed that teams from both sides would begin preparations for concrete activities, including organizing forums, working visits, and sectoral cooperation in the fields of energy, agriculture, construction, tourism, and education.
“These discussions confirm that the friendly relations between the two countries create tangible benefits for the citizens of Montenegro,” the statement reads.
During the visit, Nurković also met with the President of the Umraniye Municipality, Ismet Yıldırım, and it was agreed that a Montenegrin municipality, which shows interest, will be twinned with Umraniye.
The talks also covered cooperation in sports, education, staff exchanges, and the joint implementation of infrastructure and cultural projects.
“This visit reaffirms the commitment of Montenegro’s state institutions to enhancing bilateral cooperation, opening doors for investments, and strengthening ties with emigrants,” the statement concludes.
