The number of tourists from the United States (US) is increasing in Montenegro, but there is still room for further growth, as well as opportunities for increased direct investments from the US, said the Minister of Tourism, Simonida Kordić.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Tourism, Kordić met with the Commissioner for International Relations from the Office of the Mayor of New York, Eduardo Mermelstein.
She highlighted that while the number of tourists from the US is growing, there is potential for further progress, as well as for boosting direct investments from the US.
“The US is a highly potent emitting market. Montenegro has only participated in the New York Tourism Fair for the second year, and it is already yielding results. The goal of this ministry is to continue building strong relationships and increase tourism exchange,” said Kordić.
She emphasized that while Montenegro is small, it has much to offer.
Kordić added that changing tourist preferences, with a growing interest in authentic experiences, work in Montenegro’s favor.
Mermelstein reminded that New York is home to the largest diplomatic community in the world, often including the diaspora, which creates bridges for cooperation and the improvement of business and tourism relations.
“This administration is strengthening ties with all destinations, which is important for the development of tourism in New York and the growth of our partnership relations. This cooperation is always two-way and benefits both sides,” Mermelstein said.
The statement also mentioned that the meeting addressed the potential for linking the region’s tourism offerings and opportunities for joint marketing in New York.
“Meanwhile, an exchange of best practices and mutual promotion of significant activities in both Montenegro and New York was agreed upon,” the statement read.
Kordić also informed her counterparts about the potential of northern Montenegro, whose rapid establishment on the regional tourism map is creating attractive investment opportunities in tourism and service industries in these areas.
