The Parliamentary Committee on Economy, Finance and Budget will hold a consultative hearing tomorrow regarding the sale of Montenegro Shipping Company’s vessels.
The invited participants include the Minister of Maritime Affairs, Filip Radulović; the Chairman of the Board of Directors and Executive Director of Montenegro Shipping Company, Petar Janković and Vladimir Tadić; as well as the President of the NGO Association of Maritime Captains, Mario Pilastro.
The hearing will focus on the sale of the vessels Kotor and “21. Maj” to the Danish company Navision Group, for a total of USD 13.2 million.
The transaction has drawn criticism from experts and maritime professionals, who claim the ships were sold well below market value.
Since the beginning of the year, the vessel Kotor has experienced several malfunctions. Due to these technical issues and accumulated debts, it was detained in multiple ports.
Both vessels were originally purchased in 2012 in China.
