Montenegro is set to enhance its summer tourism landscape with the upcoming EXIT music festivals, featuring a roster of prominent international artists. The events will take place in two key coastal locations: Velika Plaža in Ulcinj and Bečići beach in Budva, aiming to attract music enthusiasts and bolster the country’s tourism sector.
The festival’s activities will commence at Velika Plaža from July 1 to July 3, followed by the main festival running from July 3 to July 6. The second leg of the festival will shift to Bečići beach, with warm-up events scheduled for August 24 to August 27 and the primary program occurring from August 28 to August 31.
The line-up boasts an impressive array of global talent in electronic and pop-dance music, featuring artists such as Peggy Gou, Charlotte de Witte, Hugel, John Newman, Maceo Plex, Monolink, Enrico Sangiuliano, RPR Soundsystem, Awen, among others. This selection underscores the festival’s appeal to a diverse audience.
Organizers are positioning EXIT as a catalyst for extending Montenegro’s peak tourist season while enhancing its reputation in the rapidly growing music tourism sector. Projections indicate that this initiative could lead to approximately 210,000 overnight stays and generate upwards of €40 million in tourism revenue during the summer months.
In a unique approach, both festivals will be free for attendees upon registration, with additional VIP ticket options and further program details expected soon. This strategy aims to maximize attendance and engagement from both local and international visitors.
Dušan Kovačević, founder and director of EXIT, emphasized that the festival features artists at the height of their careers. He noted that electronic music serves as a significant draw for affluent tourists while also showcasing a substantial number of local performers. The domestic segment will include over 50 local and regional artists such as Lanna, Laris, Millok, Proximus, Audiostorm, Rayo, Branko Vuković, Raven TK, Lekka, and Rudhaman.
Additionally, Ulcinj’s Velika Plaža will host a kite-surfing program that connects the festival with one of Montenegro’s popular coastal sports activities. Collaborating with leading kite clubs, organizers plan to feature a kite show showcasing renowned riders from both local and international backgrounds.
This initiative represents a strategic move for Montenegro as it seeks to diversify its tourism offerings beyond traditional beach experiences. By integrating international music acts with local talent and active-sport elements, EXIT aims to create an attractive summer destination tailored for younger audiences who are willing to spend more while traveling.
