The Government of Montenegro has officially included six international flight routes from Podgorica in its Public Service Obligation (PSO) framework, ensuring their operation from June 1, 2026, to May 31, 2030. This initiative, confirmed during a government meeting in late February 2026, aims to maintain essential air connectivity that may not be viable through commercial means alone. The decision reflects the government’s commitment to enhancing tourism and economic integration amid changing dynamics in the aviation sector.
The designated international routes will connect Podgorica to Brussels, Frankfurt, Paris Charles de Gaulle, Amsterdam, Zagreb, and Bari. This regulation outlines the specific airports to be serviced at each destination, thereby formalizing support for these critical connections over the next four years. The implementation of this plan is scheduled to commence prior to the summer 2026 travel season, with the relevant ministry tasked with initiating the necessary administrative procedures to facilitate these operations.
