Alternative Montenegro has called on citizens to boycott supermarkets and stores in the country today.
They urged a boycott of all supermarkets and stores in Montenegro, without exception, stating that the action is not political, but rather in response to high prices that are affecting all citizens equally.
The group mentioned that a similar action was carried out in neighboring Croatia and yielded positive results, while a similar boycott is planned for today in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
They argue that prices are excessively high and that leading retail chains, through mutual agreements on price formation, have significantly impacted the fact that citizens are not fully feeling the benefits of increased wages and pensions.
The Executive Board of the Union of Free Trade Unions (USSCG) has called on its members to join the boycott as an expression of civil revolt against the outrageously high prices of goods.
Prime Minister Milojko Spajić also supported the boycott, urging retailers to maintain a fair relationship with consumers.
On the other hand, the Chamber of Commerce did not support any form of boycott by its members, regardless of the sector in which they operate, calling it unjustified as it directly impacts the economy, which is not responsible for the challenges being addressed in this manner.
