Montenegrin Tourism Minister, Simonida Kordić, highlighted Montenegro’s potential as an attractive destination for investment in the tourism and hospitality sectors during a meeting with Jusif Abudulayev, the Executive Director of the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Agency (AZPROMO).
Kordić emphasized that Montenegro has significant opportunities for further investment, particularly in the central and northern regions of the country. These areas are considered underdeveloped but offer numerous natural attractions that can enhance the country’s tourism offerings.
During the meeting, held on the sidelines of the COP29 Summit in Baku, the Minister pointed to the Portonovi complex as a successful example of investment that has had a positive impact on both the local community and the national economy.
The Ministry of Tourism reported that the meeting also marked the beginning of communications between relevant institutions of both countries, and plans were made to organize a visit in February with representatives from several major Azerbaijani companies interested in investing in Montenegro.
The participants of the meeting agreed that direct air connections are crucial for the development of bilateral relations and the strengthening of economic ties between the two nations. Therefore, increasing the number of flights throughout the year was seen as beneficial.
Additionally, discussions focused on strategies to attract tourists from distant markets and the idea of regional cooperation between multiple countries to offer a unique tourism package, a goal shared by both Montenegro and Azerbaijan.
The participants concluded that improving customer service and promoting the tourism potential of both countries is key to increasing tourist traffic.
