Montenegro and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have established successful bilateral cooperation, with significant potential for improvement in the tourism sector, particularly through enhanced air connectivity and infrastructure development.
This was discussed during a meeting between Montenegro’s Minister of Tourism, Simonida Kordić, who is on an official visit to the UAE, and UAE’s Minister of State for Foreign Trade, Thani bin Ahmed Al Zejoudi.
Kordić’s visit was part of the UAE Ministry of Economy’s invitation and the AIM Congress, which began in Abu Dhabi. The meeting highlighted the successful cooperation between the two nations and identified substantial opportunities for growth in tourism.
It was noted that strong air connectivity and better infrastructure are key to improving tourism, and discussions also focused on strengthening ties based on a Memorandum of Cooperation, which serves as a framework for implementing numerous joint initiatives.
Al Zejoudi emphasized significant interest in Montenegro and the broader region, expressing his willingness to assist in promoting Montenegro in the UAE.
Kordić outlined Montenegro’s strategic goals to stimulate investments in modern tourism, develop the northern region, and enhance infrastructure to create a year-round, integrated tourism system.
The meeting also focused on Montenegro’s potential to develop MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tourism and the importance of investing in conference capacities. Additionally, Kordić shared insights into regional tourism collaboration, aimed at attracting tourists from distant markets, including the UAE, to explore multiple countries in one trip.
Kordić is scheduled to speak at a Ministerial Roundtable on Tourism Investment, organized by the UN Tourism, AIM Congress, and UNCTAD, where she will present Montenegro’s tourism investment opportunities and incentives.
