Montenegro and Serbia remain each other’s key economic partners with strong trade in goods and services, according to a meeting between Montenegro’s Minister of Tourism Simonida Kordić and Serbia’s Minister of Internal and Foreign Trade Jagoda Lazarević.
Tourism was highlighted as a major area of cooperation, with Serbian tourists consistently accounting for the highest number of visits and overnight stays in Montenegro.
Both sides acknowledged the growing investment activity between the two countries and emphasized the region’s natural potential for cooperation, further enhanced by the CEFTA agreement.
They stressed the importance of collaboration in areas that directly impact tourism, such as energy, information technology, and especially transport infrastructure, including road and rail connections, to improve the flow of tourists and goods.
There was agreement on promoting the Balkans as a joint tourism brand in distant markets and aligning visa policies with key countries like Saudi Arabia and the UAE. Serbia’s introduction of e-visas was cited as a positive step.
Finally, both ministers recognized the importance of the upcoming Expo 2027 in Belgrade as a key opportunity to showcase the economic and tourism potential of both countries and the broader region.
