Montenegro’s Minister of Energy and Mining, Admir Šahmanović, announced that the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Rome opened a dialogue on expanding cooperation between Montenegro and key Italian financial and energy institutions.
During his visit, Šahmanović met with representatives of Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP), one of Italy’s leading financial institutions that supports major investment projects across Europe. The talks focused on new investment opportunities and strengthening strategic cooperation, particularly in the field of renewable energy.
CDP expressed interest in investing in the Western Balkans, recognizing Montenegro as a country with a clear legal framework and a well-defined energy transition plan. Šahmanović emphasized that Montenegro is now seen as a reliable and attractive investment destination, highlighting projects such as the second undersea cable to Italy and the MoU on energy market integration, which strengthen Montenegro’s position on the European energy map.
He underlined that such investments are crucial for Montenegro’s energy security, economic growth, and job creation. The next steps will include identifying projects ready for implementation, with the goal of positioning Montenegro as a regional hub for renewable energy development and an example of sustainable investment in the future.
