Concrete steps towards enhancing cooperation between Montenegro and Bahrain were recorded just two months after the official visit of Montenegro’s Prime Minister, Milojko Spajić, to Manama. This message was delivered during today’s meeting between the Prime Minister and a Bahraini delegation at the World Economic Forum in Davos, as reported by the Montenegrin government.
During the meeting between Prime Minister Milojko Spajić and the Bahraini delegation, led by Finance and National Economy Minister Salman bin Khalifa and the Chairman of the Tamkeen Labor Fund, Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, it was announced that Bahraini citizens will no longer require visas to enter Montenegro.
This move, they noted, is expected to have a positive impact on Montenegro’s economy, especially considering the significant interest in visiting and investing in the country. In this context, efforts to establish a direct flight connection between the two countries are already underway.
During Prime Minister Spajić’s visit to Bahrain in November of last year, which was the first high-level visit since the establishment of diplomatic relations, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed with the Tamkeen Fund. This agreement will initiate activities in the first half of 2025 aimed at diversifying the labor market and improving workforce qualifications in Montenegro.
“The retraining and training programs provided by the Tamkeen Fund have completely transformed our labor market. As many as 95% of Bahrainis now working in the private sector have undergone Tamkeen’s training, which clearly demonstrates the benefits for the domestic economy. We are happy to share our experiences and knowledge in this area with Montenegro. Your visit to Manama was a key step in strengthening the cooperation between our two countries,” said Isa bin Salman.
The meeting also discussed the opportunities for Bahraini investors to come to Montenegro, which could generate further economic cooperation between the two nations.
“Many of our companies are seriously considering investing and expanding operations. We are particularly cautious when choosing countries, but we see Montenegro as a reliable partner. The removal of visa requirements will undoubtedly have a positive effect in this regard,” said Minister Salman bin Khalifa.
The meeting also highlighted that the upcoming visit of Bahrain’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Sheikh Salman Bin Hamad Al Khalifa, to Montenegro will provide a strong boost to the realization of shared goals and the strengthening of overall bilateral cooperation, the statement concluded.
