As the two representative trade unions at Airports of Montenegro and signatories of the current Collective Agreement, we expect the Government of Montenegro to make decisions that serve the best interests of the state, employees and citizens, the unions stated.
They urged the government to conduct the concession process responsibly and transparently, presenting clear and well-supported data on investment proposals, timelines, job creation, air routes, infrastructure plans and treatment of low-cost carriers.
The unions emphasized the need for an extension of at least one month to allow all stakeholders to continue their work professionally and focus on the critical task ahead: the successful execution of the summer tourist season. Employees, they stressed, are not objects but essential contributors to the airport’s operations, whose expertise and dedication have ensured safe and efficient air traffic in Montenegro for years.
The statement highlights the workers’ consistent professionalism and resilience, even under challenging conditions. It expresses confidence that, with cooperation among employees, management, state institutions, and other partners, Montenegro can effectively handle increased air traffic during the summer — both technically and with human warmth and reliability.
The unions expect company leadership to recognize and respect the achievements of its workforce and underline that employees remain committed to proving their value and responsibility during the upcoming season. They believe the airports can continue to grow successfully without a concession, relying on public ownership, internal resources, and professional staff.
Airports of Montenegro, they concluded, are not a place for waste, handover, or experimentation. They are a pillar of national infrastructure and must be treated as such. Workers are not background figures in this story, but the foundation without which no plan has meaning.
