Montenegro has transposed and implemented about 70% of the European Union directives and regulations related to maritime transport, although compliance remains partial in most cases, announced Minister of Maritime Affairs Filip Radulović.
Speaking at the Transport Community Ministerial Council held in Belgrade, Radulović stated that to close negotiation chapters 14 (Transport Policy) and 21 (Trans-European Networks), the Ministry of Maritime Affairs is actively working on drafting three key laws. The adoption of these laws is planned by the fourth quarter of this year.
The three laws include the Law on Navigation Safety, the Law on Ports, and the Law on Prevention of Marine Pollution from Maritime Facilities. All legislative measures will be aligned with EU standards and conventions.
These efforts are in line with Montenegro’s Government Work Program for the year and the country’s EU accession program.
