The Ministry of Public Works has launched a tender for the design and construction of artificial water reservoirs at Ski Centre Kolašin 1600, with the aim of supporting snowmaking operations. The tender was published on 11 July and covers infrastructure intended to provide a more stable water supply for artificial snow production at the ski resort. The value of the tender was not disclosed in the initial announcement.
The planned reservoirs are expected to improve the reliability of snowmaking, extend the operating season and reduce dependence on increasingly variable natural snowfall conditions. The project is linked to challenges affecting the winter tourism and property-development market in northern Montenegro. Expanding hotel and residential capacity in the Kolašin area depends on predictable ski-centre operations to support winter-season occupancy and property values. While snowmaking infrastructure addresses one of the key operational risks for the ski centre, other factors, including access roads, lift capacity and destination management, remain relevant to the wider development of the tourism area.
