During a meeting initiated by the Montenegrin Minister of Energy and Mining, Saša Mujović, with the Director of Elektroprivreda Republike Srpske (ERS), Luka Petrović, two major energy projects emerged as focal points: the reversible hydroelectric power plant and the solar power plant on Bileća Lake.
Mujović highlighted that the discussion also addressed compensation for submerged land on Montenegrin territory.
“I am very pleased that Minister of Agriculture, Forestry, and Water Management, Vladimir Joković, will be involved in the entire process and discussion, as the aspect concerning water management falls under the jurisdiction of his ministry. I am optimistic that we will reach a high-quality, beneficial solution for Montenegro. We conclude this discussion with great optimism and will continue our work on Friday, when our operational teams will start addressing specific tasks,” Mujović stated, according to a statement from the Ministry.
ERS Director Luka Petrović agreed on the necessity to regulate the issue of submerged land in the Nikšić municipality, where Bilećko Lake is located.
“At the same time, we need to define and permanently resolve the water supply issue for Herceg Novi, which also depends on the Trebišnjica River. We believe that we can find a solution that satisfies all parties,” Petrović remarked after the meeting.
This meeting is a continuation of discussions aimed at resolving the complex issues surrounding Bilećko Lake, initiated by Minister Mujović. The first concrete outcome is the reinstatement of compensation for submerged land to the Municipality of Nikšić, which had not been paid for the past 30 years.
