In 2024, the Institute Dr Simo Milošević in Igalo generated €10.3 million in revenue, up €800,000 from 2023, despite the absence of Scandinavian clients who had contributed €2.5 million the previous year. Executive Director Dr. Zoran Kovačević called 2024 one of the most difficult years in the Institute’s 76-year history, but confirmed that operations have stabilized and are now covering all running costs.
Renovation plans are set between 2026 and 2028, supported by a restructuring plan approved by the Montenegrin government. The renovation will cover accommodation upgrades to four-star standards, full modernization of medical facilities and diagnostics equipment, and improved therapeutic blocks.
To generate revenue and broaden reach, the Institute offers attractive rehabilitation and wellness packages for both the domestic and regional markets, including an “Ex-Yu” package—one of its top-selling self-funded offerings in the past decade.
Currently, the Institute treats around 600 patients, including over 350 covered by the Montenegrin Health Fund. New regulations allow broader access to rehabilitation for conditions like post-stroke recovery, osteoporosis-related fractures, and pediatric asthma.
Staff dedication remains a cornerstone of the Institute’s identity, with professionals like head physiotherapist Luka Mentović and nurse Sanja Mandić highlighting the emotional support provided to patients and families. Patients such as Lidija Vukčević praise the Institute’s comprehensive and compassionate care, urging continued government investment.
