Since ramping up inspections for the summer tourist season, Montenegro’s Inspection Authority (UIP) has issued €2.81 million in fines and undertaken preventive measures in over a thousand cases.
According to UIP, inspectors conducted 6,456 inspections, identifying 4,484 violations that resulted in financial penalties totaling €2,814,720.
Inspectors aimed to prevent issues wherever possible, advising entities of necessary corrections in 1,005 cases, providing them with a legal timeframe to address the irregularities.
While inspections have focused primarily on coastal areas, UIP has also extended its oversight to other regions of Montenegro. Inspections have been conducted in national parks, northern tourist centers, and rafting destinations to manage the influx of domestic and international visitors.
In the rafting centers alone, 104 inspections were carried out, leading to fines of €3,250 for various infractions.
For inspections of vessels on Lake Skadar, 17 violation orders were issued, totaling €8,100.
Labor inspectors have paid particular attention to underage employment, issuing 137 violation orders totaling €110,500 for related irregularities.
