The most favorable offer at the tender for the construction of a panoramic gondola in Herceg Novi, from Sutorina to the Žvinje hill, was given by the company Novi Volvox from Podgorica, but due to an appeal, the contract was not concluded and the project was not started, while the decision of the Commission for the Protection of Rights in Proceedings is pending on the appeal public procurement.
This was officially announced to Vijesti from the Capital Investments Administration, where they pointed out that this is a repeated procedure because the originally announced public procurement was canceled in its entirety by the Commission for the Protection of Rights in Public Procurement Procedures, acting on the appeal.
The Administration also said that the deadline for the execution of the contract for the development of the Main Project is three months from the signing of the contract, while the deadline for the execution of the works is 12 months from the start of work.
– The starting station of the cable car is located near Karaula in Sutorina, and the final station will be near the church in Ilinica. The estimated value of the investment is EUR 9.970 million – the Administration pointed out, adding that the gondola is planned to transport 150 people per hour.
The office of the President of the Municipality of Herceg Novi confirmed to Vijesti that the final decision of the commission is awaited and that if the appeal is rejected, the works can start already in the fall. They add that otherwise a new tender will be announced, which would mean that the project would only be realized next year.
They add that the potential of the project is huge because the starting station of the gondola is located near the newly planned promenade to Njivice and on the way to the border crossing Kobila, while as they say, the added value is that it will revive an area that has not been recognized through development potential.
When asked about similar projects for that coastal city, the Municipality said that they are planning to build escalators or an elevator, which would connect the Pet Danica promenade and Dvorana Park to the central part of the city.
– In this way, a new vertical communication would be realized that would replace, for many, tiring stairs and significantly facilitate the movement from the sea to the city center – said the city administration and pointed out that they are still considering the best solution due to the conservation conditions required by the city core.
The price of the ticket for the planned gondola ride is not yet known, but the Municipality says that it will not be more expensive than those in the surrounding area, that there will be discounts for group visits and that a lower price for the locals can be expected.
